Game of Two Halves

Slide10.JPG

The year 5/6 girls went to OSSMA on Thursday 6th March to compete in a tournament that involved 8 other schools from across the area. The girls had done amazingly well of recent and had not lost a single game going in to the tournament. They had won 2 and drawn 6 of their previous games. In the tournament they had fixtures against 3 teams and then if they did well would go into a semi and final.

Throughout the first set of fixtures the girls remained composed and battled hard to win two and draw the other game, meaning they qualified as winners of their group. They beat Crescent and Our ladys and drew with Sutherland which meant they had 7 points. In the semi final they had to play a good Sandford Hill side and made the game look easy as they were comfortable winners by 2-0. In the final they played superbly well and after an early goal from Jade Aarons the girls eventually ran out 1-0 winners. Anya in goal had little to do but made two amazing saves in the final beating one out with her right hand and then stopping the ball with her body to good effect. Anya didn’t concede a single goal in the five games that we played! Rhianne Chell in the final minute raced back to make a shooting opportunity hard for the opposition and all the girls were deserved winners.

Massive congratulations to all of the girls. Amazing performance.

Jade, Leah, Rhianne, Tilly, Georgia, Georgina, Marcie and Anya
