Belgrave V Belgrave

Slide10.JPG

The boy’s football started properly with a bang Tuesday 10th December as they won a tournament at Crescent Academy. As one team had dropped out we took two teams to the tournament and both performed exceptionally well. The first game saw one team take on Crescent and the other play the Willows primary in two very entertaining fixtures. The boys playing against Crescent did extremely well and recorded a 2-1 victory whilst the Belgrave A team lost to Willows 3-0 but were not lacking in effort. In the next game the two Belgrave teams played against one another and even though the B team ran out easy winners some of the performances from the A team were excellent. Ali Abbas,Nathan Kelsall and Sam Oldham to name but a few were superb in defence with Jade Brautigam putting in some last ditch tackles. In the final two games Belgrave B had to get a draw against the Willows to win the competition or even a loss but not by many goals. Even though the boys bombarded the Willows goal all game and hit the crossbar twice they could not score and conceded late in the first half. Dan Clayton doing an amazing job again in goal just managed to dive over the top of the ball into the back of the net. The A team scored first but still went down to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Crescent but could not be disappointed about their performances. At the end the B team had won the tournament courtesy of a better goal difference over the three games.

Well done to all of the boys, excellent effort.
