Belgrave Girls Back with a Bang!

The girls began playing competitive football again this year with back to back fixtures on the 26th and 27th of November. On the 26th they played against Sir John Baskeyfield Primary at the new Brownhills Academy. Even though the girls hadn’t been training for that long and haven’t done any work as a team they were brill winning 3-0 with Jade Aarons grabbing all of the goals. The opposition hadn’t played before but had some good players with pace.

With year 5’s such as Georgia and Rhianne who never seems to stop moving, the team has not lost from last year. Anya again making some fantastic saves tipping a few shots around the post and looking very confident. Marcie, Tilly and Leah as always making a nuisance of themselves winning the ball back at every opportunity. Georgina as ever in defence winning the ball and passing it out from the back with no fuss and Jade the goal scoring machine on fire, the team looks solid in all departments.

On the 27th the girls played at the new Excel Academy (Holden Lane) and had 5 fixtures. Last year they worked hard and tried to pass and move constantly but as it was their first season and struggled to create many chances. However in the first game they easily won 2-0 with goals from Rhianne and Jade. We drew the next four games but that wasn’t for trying as all of our shots were either met with great goalkeeping saves or just misplaced efforts. All of the girls though performed brilliantly all of the way through the night and with some shooting practice from Mr Locker we will be challenging for top spot.

Well done to the girls, fantastic effort and I think their celebration needs to be shown throughout the school!!
